To set up simple file sharing in GNOME, using the nautilus file browser:

  1. Open a file browser

  2. From your Home folder, vavigate to the Public folder

  3. Click on the Sharing Settings button:

  1. Turn on the share:

  1. Enter a recognizable computer name and activate File Sharing:

  1. If you open Other Locations on another computer running the GNOME desktop, you should see the shared public folder:
