Overview
--------

The `OpenPGP card <OpenPGP_card_store_page_>`_ is a "smart card" which provides many OpenPGP functions.

The purpose of the card is to store GPG cryptographic keys on it to sign/encrypt emails, textual files, etc.
These keys cannot be extracted from the card, meaning that they cannot be stolen.

Installation

Librem 5
~~~~~~~~

#. Ensure the device is fully powered off.
#. :ref:`Remove the rear cover <l5_rear_cover>` of the device to access the battery compartment.
#. Remove the existing battery from the compartment.

#. Insert the OpenPGP card.
    * The location is near the top of the empty battery compartment.
    * Electrical contact pins must face downward toward the device.
    * The orientation of the OpenPGP is etched into the internal frame for reference.
    * Once properly oriented, gently push the OpenPGP into the socket.
#. Reinsert the battery
#. Position the cover over the case as before and gently press until it snaps into place.
